DFK Gooding Partners

Leading into the excitement of Christmas and a well-earned break for summer holidays, it’s easy to forget that not everyone in Perth gets to enjoy a restful holiday period. For the families of seriously ill children staying at Ronald McDonald House Perth, their time is spent in-between treatments, surgeries, and other commitments that make for a physically and mentally exhausting time.

Being forced to move a family close to hospital to ease this burden is extraordinarily tough, so thankfully this is where RMH Perth steps in. Supported by a tirelessly dedicated team of staff, RMH Perth (part of Ronald McDonald House Charities, RMHC) provides a free home-away-from-home for the whole family - a comfortable place to stay and peace of mind, knowing everyone can be together, within close proximity to their child’s hospital.

The full-time operations team at RMH Perth is supported with a committed, wide ranging group of volunteers, who generously give their time to make sure the families staying feel welcome and supported. DFK Gooding Partners has supported RMHC Western Australia since 2009, through donations, board membership, and the most anticipated by our staff - the Home for Dinner program.

Volunteering for Home for Dinner means spending the afternoon and evening learning about RMHC and cooking the evening meal for the RMH cafeteria that serves the families staying at Ronald McDonald House Nedlands and Perth Children’s Hospital. This could be anything from lasagne to tacos or grilled chicken with salad. All provided free of charge and warmly welcomed by the families staying at Ronald McDonald House.

In late November we had our third and last team for 2022 cook up another storm for the RMH families. Comprising a dedicated group of Steven Tindale, Heidi Daniel, Tyler Hicks, Leanne Dixon, Bernard Greyling and Eliza Parnell, this was our 33rd team through the doors for the Home for Dinner cook for RMH Perth since 2009. Other than a few pointers to correct dishwashing techniques, once again it was smiles around following a productive afternoon of being able to contribute to supporting WA families in care. We look forward to continuing our support throughout 2023 and beyond.
